Dr Hamish Carr

A key part of Computer Science is performance. This is visible in my research in Computer Graphics (used in games, films and industrial design software), Scientific Visualisation (analysis and display of huge data sets), and multicore parallelisation (exploiting modern CPU’s and GPU’s with up to 3,000 cores each).  Performance also appears in teaching Computer Graphics and introductory programming, where a solid foundation prepares students for performance-oriented code in later years.
