Professor Ian Robertson

The University of Leeds is top of the UK research rankings for electronic and electrical engineering. We have a worldwide reputation and 110 years of history, delivering excellent teaching and research.

I was very honoured in 2012 to be made Fellow of the IEEE in recognition of my research in field of microwave circuits. These technologies have now become a core part of the wireless communications revolution and I am now applying a "system-in-a-package" techniques to the design of miniature robots.

I am a co-investigator on the EPSRC National Facility for Innovative Robotic Systems. I am currently supervising three undergraduate projects based on a pair of ABB IRB120 industrial robot arms, which will be controlled by RobotStudio / RAPID and use the Microsoft Kinect SDK to perform some simple demonstrations of musical robots.

My top priority is to give our students the best possible education. We are all determined that research excellence translates into the most up-to-date degree programmes possible. We want to help our students achieve the very high standards set by our successful alumni.
