Dr Tomasz Liskiewicz

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines and as such is critical to the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance processes in modern mechanical systems. The fast growth and dynamic nature of this field mandate continuous academic and professional developments.

My research background is in Surface Engineering and Tribology and I have been active in these disciplines in different international academic and industrial positions for the last ten years. My main research interest is in manipulating surface properties of materials for best performance in challenging technological environments. As a Programme Manager and a Lecturer on the Mechanical Engineering course, I particularly enjoy the third year individual and fourth year team projects, as the projects I supervise overlap directly with my area of research. The projects give the students the opportunity to apply an appropriate blend of theoretical, computational and experimental skills to the solution of an engineering problem of direct relevance to the programme of study.

I am fully determined to provide students enrolled in this programme with the best possible experience at this crucial stage of their careers. The programme is IMechE accredited, which sets the students on the right path to achieve chartered engineer status.
