Dr Peter Brooks

My interest in automotive engineering stems from my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and subsequent PhD in vehicle dynamics. Coincidentally, both are Leeds degrees! Since that time, I have worked for a variety of companies but was drawn back to Leeds to work on a postdoctoral research project on brake noise and vibration. I supervise projects across a broad range of subjects (and vehicles).

Automotive engineering embraces all aspects of the analysis, design and manufacture of a road vehicle - it is multi-disciplinary and is so much more than the perhaps popular image linked to fast cars and formula style racing might suggest! All classes of vehicle have their own areas of speciality, invariably linked to their function and driven by user demand and current legislative requirements. The industry is buoyant with an appetite for high calibre young engineers who are passionate about and committed to developing the future generation of road vehicles whilst also building their own careers.
