Professor Sven L.M. Schroeder and Professor Michael Rappolt of the University of Leeds will deliver the next School Seminar Series event.
The seminar, entitled 'Bragg – Royce – Harwell: Opportunities for Materials Research with Advanced X-ray Techniques', will take place in the Houldsworth Building. Professor Schroeder, School of Chemical and Process Engineering, and Professor Michael Rappolt, School of Food Science and Nutrition, are the speakers.
Through the Bragg Centre the University is investing nearly £100M into analytical science infrastructure for materials, process and product research. In parallel, investments in advanced X-ray spectroscopy facilities have been enabled through the RAEng Bragg Centenary Chair, the Sir Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials and the establishment of a strategic partnership with Diamond Light Source and other facilities at the UK’s Science and Innovation Campus at Harwell. The seminar will give an overview over the opportunities that arise for materials and manufacturing research by giving examples of surface, interface and bulk analysis drawn from formulation, biomaterials, energy, process as well as fundamental research.
