Working with business

Research in the School of Civil Engineering contributes to delivering the infrastructure that we all rely on in everyday life. We have an ethos of working at the interfaces with other disciplines to tackle key societal and technical challenges, and our research has an impact at a global scale.

Our work has influence on a national and global scale through collaborations with numerous partners in academia, industry, government, professional bodies and NGOs in the UK, Europe, China, Africa, South East Asia, USA and South America.

We also have strong partnerships within the University of Leeds, including long standing collaborations with the Institute for Transport Studies and the Centre for Global Development and a leadership role in two major initatives: water@leeds, one of the biggest inter-disciplinary water research initiatives in the world; and Cities, a University wide research theme.

Our facilities

We are committed to sharing our facilities with external academic and industrial collaborators.

If you are looking to locate a particular item of research equipment you can search the N8 database, which holds details of all the equipment and facilities across the N8 university partnership.

Engineering Project Academy

Our Engineering Project Academy is home to project management academics and professionals, staff and students at the University of Leeds. Through the development of excellence in both people and organisations delivering projects, the Academy leads significant change across the Engineering Sector.
