Our School is internationally recognised for high-quality fundamental and applied research covering many aspects of Civil Engineering science and practice. The Research Excellence Framework (REF2014) placed us seventh in the UK for the quality of our research with over 90% of our research having either ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’ impact

You’ll benefit from our close working relationships with a large number of key companies and academic institutions in the UK and overseas. You’ll have the opportunity to attend industry talks, seminars and conferences where you’ll meet and network with colleagues from industry and academia. Many of our funded project studentships are in collaboration with our industrial partners.

We have all the research facilities you’ll need to support your research. We invest millions of pounds each year to ensure we maintain a first-class learning and research environment. Facilities include: a fully equipped structural strong floor, a class II aerobiology chamber and a soils and testing rigs for full-scale structures built of construction materials.
