Careers and employability

Careers support

Throughout your time with us our dedicated faculty Employability Team is here to support, guide and advise you. In addition to specialist face-to-face meetings, you’ll benefit from:

  • timetabled employability sessions
  • ongoing support to find internships and placements
  • presentations and workshops delivered by employers.

Our Employability Team also organises an annual Computing Careers Expo, which will give you the opportunity to meet a number of graduate recruiters to gain an insight into graduate jobs and to explore work experience and internship opportunities. Recruiters at last year’s event included, among others: IBM, BBC, Jet 2, FDM Group, P&G, Pace Plc and Airbus.

You’ll also have access to the University’s Careers Centre, which is one of the largest in the country. Plus, you’ll be able to attend the Yorkshire Graduate Recruitment Fair and the Autumn Graduate Jobs and Internships Fair.

Your personal tutor, who you’ll meet with regularly, will be involved with guiding your academic and personal development. Using ‘Leeds for Life’, your personal tutor will encourage you to keep a personal and active record of all you have done and achieved. This will help you complete application forms and prepare for interviews.
