Research highlights includes:
- Development of high temperature BiFeO3-based piezoelectric ceramics with resulting spin-out in ultrasound transducers for extreme environments
- Microgravity solidification experiments on Ni-Al being run on-board the International Space Station with further experiments on Al-Si-Sc and Si-Ge alloys planned
- Thin-walled (20 – 100 nm) metallic microcapsules for the encapsulation of a variety of products requiring time-delayed or location-specific delivery of functional products (e.g. volatile fragrances, cancer drugs)
- Optimisation of the performance of granular flow devices for the characterization of Martian soils in the grain processing station of EXOMARS(2018).
