Our mission is to promote cutting-edge research and education in the field of robotics, autonomous systems and sensing, with a strong focus on translational impact of our discoveries.
We are an active member of Robotics at Leeds which hosts the £4 million EPSRC national facility for innovative robotic systems.
Research areas include:
- Surgical and medical robotics
- Rehabilitation robotics
- Ultrasonics and embedded systems
- Communication, sensing and control
If you would like to discuss an area of research in more detail please contact the Institute Director: Professor Pietro Valdastri.
We have opportunities for prospective PhD students including a number of studentships. Informal enquiries can be made to the Institute Director.
We have a strong track record in outreach and public engagement activities such as the Leeds Robotics Hackathon, flow code programming (during National Robotics week) and March of the Robots. Our research and teaching staff also offer the Introduction to Robotics and Autonomous Systems module as a part of Leeds International Summer School.
