We offer a number of scholarship opportunities to support and reward students from around the world. If you are a UK or EU student you may be able to receive a government postgraduate loan.

2018-19 Scholarships

Summary

This bursary is for you if you’re a former student of the University of Leeds studying for a postgraduate qualification in the Faculty of Engineering. Courses that are run in conjunction with other universities are excluded from the Bursary.

Value - what money is on offer

The University will pay 10% of the self-funded portion of your fees for each year of the course. If no fees are paid then no bursary is awarded.

Who is eligible

This is an automatic bursary but you have to inform us and provide evidence that you’re a former student of the University of Leeds.

How to apply

If you think you’re eligible, you need to contact the relevant admissions team for the course you have applied for.

This is an automatic scholarship awarded on condition of you achieving the equivalent of a UK first class degree.

Value - what money is on offer

£1,000. The award will be applied as a fee waiver.

Who is eligible

You’re eligible if you’re a UK/EU applicant who has been offered a place on any of the postgraduate masters courses within the School of Mechanical Engineering (excluding MSc Engineering Management online).

Deadline

No deadline - automatic.

Conditions

You must be self-funding, classified as UK/EU for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds scholarships.

How are the scholarships awarded?

Automatic based on undergraduate degree result (1st class or equivalent, or professional equivalent).

A Joint Graduate Loan-Scholarship Programme for Colombian students studying at the University of Leeds.

Value - what money is on offer

20% tuition fee scholarship to all eligible students.

Who is eligible

Students in Colombia interested in this Joint Graduate Loan-Scholarship Programme. You must hold an academic offer as a full-time taught postgraduate with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Leeds and be selected as beneficiaries of the Loan-Scholarship Programme of COLFUTURO.

Summary

The University of Leeds has a formal cooperation agreement with the Mexican Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (CONACyT) which provides reduced tuition fees to CONACyT sponsored students.

The following energy related MSc courses will receive an additional fee reduction.

Summary

The Faculty of Engineering's agreement with the Universidad Adolfo Ibanez (UAI) in Chile enables UAI's four-year Bachelors (Licenciados) students to progress to an MSc programme at the University of Leeds. UAI then accepts the credits gained by students at Leeds towards the award of UAI’s Degree of Engineering (Titulo de Ingeniero) or Master of Science degree in Engineering (MSc).  Students thus graduate with a professional postgraduate degree from both universities.

20% tuition fee scholarship

Who is eligible

UAI students who:
i) have completed a four-year Bachelors in Engineering (Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Ingenieria) from the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences, and;
ii) hold an academic offer for a full-time Masters programme in one of the following University of Leeds Schools: Civil Engineering, Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

Conditions

Applicants must achieve the University of Leeds minimum entry requirements. For programmes requiring a 2.1, the equivalent entry is GPA 5.5/7.0 and for programmes requiring a 2.2, the equivalent entry is GPA 5.0/7.0. They will also be required to obtain the standard programme entry requirements for English Language, i.e. IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. This is an automatic scholarship that is awarded to students who achieve a 2:1 or above, or an equivalent qualification, in their undergraduate degree.

The scholarship excludes Advanced Concrete Technology MSc Eng/PGDip.

You must be self-funding, full time, classified as international for tuition fee purposes and not in receipt of any other Faculty of Engineering award.
