Scholarships

We are committed to recognising hard work and achievement and we offer a number of scholarship opportunities to support undergraduates who have the potential to be an outstanding student.
If you are a UK or EU student, you may also be able to receive government support to help towards your tuition fees and living costs.

2019-20 Scholarships

Summary

This is an automatic scholarship awarded on condition of you achieving A*A*A at A-level (A2).

Value - what money is on offer

£1,000 per year of study.

Who is eligible

This is awarded to students who have achieved A*A*A at A-level (A2) or an equivalent qualification, based on the criteria used by the School for offer purposes.

You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year.

The scholarship excludes Music, Multimedia, and Electronics.

Deadline

No deadline - automatic.

Conditions

The grades must be in subjects required for the course. You must be in year one, new to the University, and achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 70% or above (to include all compulsory modules) with all modules passed at the first attempt.

The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 70%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 70% or over. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study.

You must not be in receipt of any other Faculty of Engineering award.

Summary

The UKESF Scholarship Scheme connects Electronics and Electronic Engineering undergraduates to leading employers in the Electronics sector and provides an annual bursary, paid summer work placements and a paid-for residential professional development workshop.

Value - what money is on offer

£1,000 per annum and a paid summer work placement.

Who is eligible

Applicants must on a BEng or MEng degree which contains a substantial amount of Electronics or Electronic Engineering and qualify as a UK or EU student for tuition fees or be a British National, with a permanent right to work in the UK upon graduation.

How to apply

Deadline

The application window runs from late September to late October each year.

Conditions

AAA at A-level (or equivalent) or overall average of at least 60% if already at university.

How are the scholarships awarded?

Successful applicants are interviewed by relevant companies, who will then select a number of students to award scholarships to.

2019-20 Scholarships

Summary

This scholarship is for any internationally rated applicant who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degrees in the Faculty of Engineering.

Value - what money is on offer

£2,000 per year of study.

Who is eligible

You must have been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degrees within the Faculty of Engineering.

You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year.

Deadline

No deadline - automatic.

Conditions

You must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and be classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. You must also achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60% or above with all modules passed at the first attempt.

The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £2,000 will be awarded per year of study.

If you’re a self-funding student who’s successfully completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the University of Leeds you’ll also be eligible for this scholarship.

How are the scholarships awarded?

The scholarship will be awarded as a fee reduction.

Value - what money is on offer

The two successful candidates will each receive a scholarship worth £3,500 for each of the three years of their bachelor degree study. The total award will be worth £10,500 over three years. The scholarship will be deducted from the total fee payable for each year of academic study. The scholarship will not be offered during a placement year or study year abroad. The scholarship holder needs to satisfy academic attainment indicated in the terms and conditions.

Who is eligible

Holders of an Indonesian passport who hold an offer at the University of Leeds.

How to apply

Complete this application form and submit an essay explaining in no more than 500 words why the University of Leeds should award you with a scholarship.

Deadline

Applications must be received by 23:59 on 29 March 2019. Successful applicants informed by 15 April 2019.

Conditions

Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. Self-funding students who successfully complete the International Foundation Year (IFY) at Leeds will also be eligible for this bursary. The decision of the selection panel is final and no appeals will be considered.
