Scholarships

We offer a number of scholarship opportunities to support and reward undergraduates who have the potential to be an outstanding student. If you are a UK or EU student you may also be able to receive government support to help towards your tuition fees and living costs.

We are committed to recognising hard work and achievement, which is why we also offer a number of prizes, many sponsored by industry, to students who achieve an excellent performance during their time at Leeds. You might also be recognised for academic excellence by being awarded with a place on the prestigious Dean’s list.

2016-17 Scholarships

Summary

This scholarship is for you if you’re a new UK/EU rated fee-paying applicant who will start an engineering or computing undergraduate degree course at the University of Leeds.

Value - what money is on offer

Up to £4,000, spread over four years, subject to satisfactory progression. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study.

Who is eligible

This scholarship is available to you if you’re a UK/EU rated fee-paying student who achieved A*A*A at A-level (A2) or equivalent. The grades must be in subjects required for the course. You must be new to the University and enter onto Level 1. You must not be in receipt of any other Faculty of Engineering scholarship.

How to apply

Conditions

You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year unless it’s incorporated within the programme.

The Diamond Jubilee Scholarship is available to applicants who are about to commence studying on an undergraduate degree programme in the UK, which has been accredited by the IET.

Value - what money is on offer

Minimum of £1,000 per year, for up to 4 years. Plus free membership of the IET for the duration of their course.

Who is eligible

The scholarship is available to UK applicants who achieve AAA at A level (or equivalent).

Summary

This bursary is for Students who have followed a vocational route into engineering, or who have overcome obstacles or personal challenges to pursue an engineering education.

Value - what money is on offer

Minimum of £1,000 per year, for up to 4 years. Plus free membership of the IET for the duration of their course.

Who is eligible

The Bursaries are available to students in their first year of university on an IET accredited course and who entered with a vocational qualification or have overcome obstacles or personal challenges to pursue an engineering education.

Summary

The RTS Technology Bursary aims to promote access to careers in television, to support the industry to recruit talented graduates and to build links between broadcasters and education providers.

Value - what money is on offer

£1,000 for each year of study to support living expenses, membership of the Royal Television Society and affiliate membership of the Hospital Club. You will also be given an offer of mentoring or placement in the final year of study.

Who is eligible

Prospective students with a firm offer to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering or Electronic and Communications Engineering at Leeds may be eligible to apply for this bursary.

This scholarship is for you if you’re studying a BEng in Electronics or Electronic Engineering at the University of Leeds.

Value - what money is on offer

• Annual bursary of up to £1,680. • Paid summer work placement for a minimum of eight weeks. • Industrial mentoring. • Professional development training at UKESF Summer Workshops. • Opportunities to build relationships with potential employers In addition to the scholarship, some sponsoring companies offer opportunities for longer industrial training and MEng project placements.

The scholarship is available to you if you’re studying a BEng in Electronics or Electronic Engineering at the University of Leeds. It’s open to you in all years of study except your final year. BUAA students need to have successfully completed Year 1 of the HND Electronics Engineering programme with an average mark of 70% or higher. They will also be required to obtain the standard programme entry requirements for English Language, i.e. IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Our agreement with Birla enables students who have completed years 1 and 2 of the specific programmes at Birla (and its Gulf based International Centres at Bahrain, Oman and UAE) to gain entry onto a number of our Integrated Masters (MEng, BEng) programmes at Leeds. Who is eligible

Students need to achieve a pass of at least 60% in Semesters 1 to 4 (Years 1 and 2) and must have at least 70% in Class XII English or equivalent.

Our agreement with CNAQ allows students who have successfully completed the Advanced Diploma to gain entry onto level two of our BEng or MEng programmes. To find out which programmes are available and for more information, visit our webpage.

Students need to have successfully completed the Advanced Diploma with a GPA of 3.2. They will also be required to obtain the standard programme entry requirements for English Language, i.e. IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

This scholarship is for any internationaly rated applicant who has been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Engineering

The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £2,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year unless it’s incorporated within the programme.

If you’re a self-funding student who’s successfully completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the University of Leeds you’ll also be eligible for this bursary.

Leeds welcomes NCUK students, who have successfully completed the NCUK International Diploma onto level two of an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.This agreement allows students to graduate with either a BEng or MEng degree from the University of Leeds.
