Scholarships

We offer a number of scholarship opportunities to support and reward undergraduates who have the potential to be an outstanding student. If you are a UK or EU student you may also be able to receive government support to help towards your tuition fees and living costs.

We are committed to recognising hard work and achievement, which is why we also offer a number of prizes, many sponsored by industry, to students who achieve an excellent performance during their time at Leeds. You might also be recognised for academic excellence by being awarded with a place on the prestigious Dean’s list.

2016-17 Scholarships

Summary

This scholarship is for you if you’re a new UK/EU rated fee-paying applicant who will start an engineering or computing undergraduate degree course at the University of Leeds.

Value - what money is on offer

Up to £4,000, spread over four years, subject to satisfactory progression. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study.

Who is eligible

This scholarship is available to you if you’re a UK/EU rated fee-paying student who achieved A*A*A at A-level (A2) or equivalent. The grades must be in subjects required for the course. You must be new to the University and enter onto Level 1. You must not be in receipt of any other Faculty of Engineering scholarship.

How to apply

No application - automatic.

Conditions

You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £1,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year unless it’s incorporated within the programme.

Summary

Quest (Queen’s Jubilee Scholarship Trust) offers scholarships to students about to start an ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) accredited Civil Engineering degree in the UK. Each scholarship is funded by QUEST and a company.

Value - what money is on offer

£2,500 for every year of study (up to a maximum of four years, or five in Scotland)

Who is eligible

You’re eligible if you’re a UK student starting an undergraduate Civil Engineering degree. You must have a minimum of ABB at A level (or equivalent).

How to apply

Applications for 2016 entry have closed. The 2017 scholarship will re-open in March 2017.

You must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and be classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.

You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over. £2,000 will be awarded per year of study. You won’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year unless it’s incorporated within the programme.

If you’re a self-funding student who’s successfully completed the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the University of Leeds you’ll also be eligible for this bursary.

How are the scholarships awarded?

This is an automatic scholarship and will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

Leeds welcomes NCUK students, who have successfully completed the NCUK International Diploma onto level two of an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.This agreement allows students to graduate with either a BEng or MEng degree from the University of Leeds.
