Dr Xiaoan Mao

Profile

Dr Xiaoan Mao was awarded PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the University of Manchester in 2011. He has had his MSc (2002) and BEng (1999) from Xi'an Jiaotong University. Before he became a Lecturer in Department of Engineering at University of Leicester in 2012, he was working as Research Associate. He joined University of Leeds in 2013 under a joint appointment between School of Chemical and Process Engineering and School of Civil Engineering. He has been a member of Energy Institute and a Chartered Engineer since 2014.

Research interests

The research interest and activities of Dr Mao lies in a few areas closely related to thermal sciences and renewable energies.

  • Heat and mass transfer and fluid flow in oscillatory conditions
  • Experimental fluid mechanics
  • Thermal management and thermal storage
  • Energy re-generation using waste heat and cold
  • Hydrogen production and hydrogen economy
