Dr Patricia Abellan
Patricia Abellan received her B.Sc. in physics from the University of Aalborg, Denmark, and earned her Ph.D. in Materials Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) in 2011.
After completing her Ph.D., she joined the department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of California – Davis as a postdoctoral scholar. In 2012 she joined the Physical Sciences Division at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) as a post-doctorate Research Associate. Patricia is currently a staff scientist at the SuperSTEM laboratory and research fellow at the University of Leeds.
Patricia has a strong interest on studying and using the effect of ionizing radiation (electron beam) on materials while simultaneously imaging them in the STEM. She has worked on in-situ synthesis at the nanoscale as well as the relationship interface-properties at functional oxide interfaces.
She is currently located at the SuperSTEM laboratory working in the area of soft-matter research and nanoplasmonics - www.superstem.org/whatissuperstem
- Ph.D. (Materials Science) UAB and ICMAB-CSIC, Spain
